MASL Elections Needs YOU

Call for nominations

for the 2024-2026 Executive Board and various standing committees

Leadership service is a chance to gain skills, grow personally and professionally, and to connect with school library professionals across Maryland. Consider how you can get involved! All nominees must be a MASL member in good standing.

The following Executive Board positions are open:

  • President-Elect- collaborates with the President to learn the role of the President, and assists and supports the President as needed. The President-Elect shall automatically become President at the end of the term as President-Elect.
  • Secretary- keeps, posts and distributes minutes of Executive Board meetings.
  • Delegate (2 yr term) - serves as a representative to AASL and reports back to MASL. This position requires attendance at the AASL Chapters Assembly meetings .  
  • Member-at-Large - represents interests of the general membership at Executive Board meetings. 3 positions open, a variety of geographic region representation is encouraged.

Positions are all one-year terms unless otherwise marked and are open to all MASL members in good standing. Please see by-laws for qualifications for president-elect.

Executive Board Meetings are held monthly, most meetings are virtual. Face-to-face meetings will be held 1-2 times per year. 

Applications for these positions must be received by February 28, 2025. 

Election window will be March 15 - March 31, 2025.

The following committees are looking for volunteers to join the ranks:

  • Advocacy - keep MASL members current on challenges, legislation, and work to advocate for our members.
  • Awards- revise current awards, develop criteria for new awards, advertise awards to members and public, and plan awards ceremonies.
  • Black-Eyed Susan Book Awards- select titles nominee lists; more information available on the MASL Website.
  • Communications- keep members and other interested community members informed through email and social media.
  • Conference- plan and oversee the biannual conference.
  • Elections- organize annual Executive Board elections in accordance with the bylaws.
  • Membership- recruit and retain members.
  • Professional Development - seek out members to present, advertise PD opportunities, and facilitate PD sessions.
