About MASL

The Maryland Association of School Librarians serves over 400 school librarians in Maryland and surrounding states.  Having supported Maryland school librarians for over 40 years, MASL understands the concerns and realities of practicing librarians and is driven to help members elevate their professional practice and advocate for this indispensable profession. We are an all volunteer organization who relies on the expertise and willingness of our school librarians to volunteer for roles within the organization.  Our Black Eyed Susan book award program is one of the most outstanding book award lists in the country.  MASL has been recognized for being the outstanding chapter of AASL for 2021. In addition, MASL has been awarded the ABC Clio Leadership grant by AASL, and many of our MASL members are also active in the national organization.  MASL is always seeking to recruit and retain new volunteers.  We welcome school librarians who are just getting started in their careers, those training to be a school librarian, and of course our seasoned and experienced school librarians.  Executive board meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM via Zoom and all are welcome to attend.
